GOVERNMENT HOUSE, HOKITIKA (RETURN GIVING PARTICULARS IN RELATION TO).
Return to an Order of the House of Representatives, dated 29th August, 1884. Ordered, " That ther be laid on the table a return showing (1) the cost of maintaining the building, &0., known as Government House, at Hokitika, including prison labour and material, during the present tenancy ; (2) the name of the tenant; (3) the terms of the tenancy; (4) the amount of rental and total received ; (5) whether the house is let furnished or unfurnished ; (6) if furnished, the value of said furniture ; (7) whether let by private contract or public tender."— (Mr. Bevan.)
Betuen showing (1) the Cost of Maintaining the Buildin"g, &c, known as Government House, at Hokitika, including Prison Labour and Material, during the present Tenancy; (2) the Name of the Tenant; (3) the Terms of the Tenancy ; (4) the Amount of Bental and Total received; (5) whether the House is let furnished or unfurnished ; (6) if furnished, the Value of said Furniture; (7) whether let by Private Contract or Public Tender. 1. Cost of maintaining the building, &c, known Bepairs, &c, £74 2s. 6d. ; prison labour, £27. as Government House at Hokitika, including Application has been made for further repairs, prison labour and material, during the present the cost of which is estimated at £46. tenancy: 2. The name of the tenant: Hon. J. A. Bonar, M.L.C. 3. The terms of the tenancy : From year to year, subject to three months' notice. Government to do the substantial repairs ; tenant, the internal repairs. 4. The amount of rental, and total received: £50 per annum : £275 since abolition of provinces. 5. Whether the house is let furnished or un- Furnished, furnished: 6. If furnished, the value of said furniture: Approximate value in 1880, £300. 7.
