ORDERS OF REFERENCE. Extracts from the Journals of the House of Representatives. Wednesday, the 18th Day of July, 1928. Ordered, " That a Select Committee be appointed, consisting of ten members, to whom shall be referred all Bills specially dealing with the revision of the law ; with power to confer and sit together with any similar Committee appointed by the Legislative Council; the Committee to have power to call for persons, papers, and records : three to be a quorum ; the Committee to consist of Mr. Field, Mr. H. E. Holland, Mr. E. P. Lee, Mr. Lysnar, Mr. H. G. R. Mason, Mr. J. Mason, Mr. Sidey, the Hon. Mr. Downie Stewart, Mr. Wilford, and the mover."—(Hon. Mr. Rolleston.) Friday, the 20th Day of July, 1928. Ordered, " That the Magistrates' Courts Bill be referred to the Statutes Revision Committee.".—(Hon. Mr. Rolleston.) Thursday, the 26th Day of July, 1928. Ordered, " That the Property Law Amendment Bill be referred to the Statutes Revision Committee."—(Hon. Mr. Rolleston.) REPORTS. Magistrates' Courts Bill. The Statutes Revision Committee, to which was referred the above-mentioned Bill, has the honour to report that the said Bill has been carefully considered, and that the Committee recommends that it be allowed to proceed, with amendments as shown on the copy of the Bill attached. 15th August, 1928.

Property Law Amendment Bill. The Statutes Revision Committee, to which was referred the above-mentioned Bill, has the honour to report that the said Rill has been carefully considered, and that the Committee recommends that it be allowed to proceed, with amendments as shown on the copy of the Bill attached. 16th August, 1928.

Auctioneers Bill. The Statutes Revision Committee, to which was referred the above-mentioned Bill, has the honour to report that the said Bill has been carefully considered, and that the Committee recommends that it be allowed to proceed, with amendments as shown on the copy of the Bill attached. 6th September, 1928.

Divorce and Matrimonial Causes Bill. The Statutes Revision Committee, to which was referred the above-mentioned Bill, has the honour to report that the said Bill has been carefully considered, and that the Committee recommends that it be allowed to proceed, with amendments as shown on the copy of the Bill attached. 6th September, 1928.

Law Practitioners Amendment Bill. The Statutes Revision Committee, to which was referred the above-mentioned Bill, has the honour to report that, as the Bill has come before the Committee at a stage in the session when it is impossible for the Committee to be fully informed on all matters relating thereto and so to give it satisfactory consideration, the Committee recommends that the Bill be not allowed to proceed this session. 9th October, 1928.

Special Report. I have the honour to report that the Statutes Revision Committee desires to place on record its appreciation of the efficient and impartial manner in which the Chairman, Mr. John Mason, has conducted the business of the Committee during the present session ; and further desires that this resolution be recorded in the minutes of the Committee and be reported to the House. 9th October, 1928. Special Report. I have the honour to report that the Statutes Revision Committee desires to place on record its appreciation of the work done during the session by the Clerk to the Committee (Mr. J. W. Organ), and directs that this resolution be recorded in the minutes of the Committee and be reported to the House. 9th October, 1928.

Final Report. I have the honour to report that the Statutes Revision Committee held its final meeting on the 4th October. During the session the Committee, consisting of ten members, has held eight meetings. The average attendance of members at each meeting was six. Five Bills —namely, Magistrates' Courts Bill, Property Law Amendment Bill, Auctioneers Bill, Divorce and Matrimonial Causes Bill, and Law Practitioners Amendment Bill—were considered by the Committee and reported to the House. 9th October, 1928.
