1932. NEW ZEALAND.

DEPARTMENT OF IMMIGRATION (ANNUAL REPORT OF).

Sir, — Department of Immigration, 18th July, 1932. Herewith I have the honour to submit the annual report on the immigration which has taken place into New Zealand from the United Kingdom during the year 1931-32. I have, &c, H. D. During the past year the restricted policy has been carried out strictly, and consequently the number of new arrivals shows a marked decline over the figures for the previous year. The total number of arrivals in New Zealand from the United Kingdom and Ireland during the year ended 31st March, 1932, was 2,258 (1,178 males and 1,080 females). Out of the total, 290 were assisted to New Zealand by the Imperial and New Zealand Governments, and this number includes persons nominated from New Zealand and those who applied for assisted passages in London.
