Sib,— 1 have to acknowledge the receipt of your Honor's letter, No. 237, of the 12th instant, and in reply, to inform you that the Sub-Treasurer at Wellington has been instructed to pay into the Provincial Treasury there the sum of Twelve hundred and fifty pounds (£1,250), due from the Province of Hawke's Bay on account of Permanent Debts of the original Province of Wellington. Sir — I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 21st ult., informing me that the Sub-Treasurer at Wellington had been instructed to pay into the Provincial Treasury the sum of Twelve hundred and fifty pounds, due from the Province of Hawke's Bay, on account of interest on the Permanent Debts of the original Province of Wellington, and to tender you my thanks for your prompt compliance with my request. Sir,— I have to enclose for your Honor's information copies of the correspondence, noted in margin, relative to the payment into the Provincial Treasury at Wellington of the sum of Twelve hundred and fifty pounds (£1,250), due from the Province of Hawke's Bay on account of interest on the Permanent Debts of the original Province of Wellington. I have also to inform your Honor that the Eeceiver of Land Eevenue of the Province of Hawke's Bay has been instructed to pay an equivalent amount into the Sub-Treasury at Napier.
