CIVIL SERVANTS: RETURN REFERRING TO OFFICERS EMPLOYED IN THE STOCK DEPARTMENT.

Return to an Order of the House of Representatives dated the 2nd August, 1912. Ordered, "That there be laid before this House a return showing—(l) How many offioers were engaged in the inspection of stock, rabbits, and noxious weeds on the 31st March, 1909, showing those employed in each of the classes of inspection separately, where possible; (2) what was the amount paid to these officers in (a) salaries and (ft) travelling-expenses for the year ended 31st March, 1909 ; (3) how many of the officers so engaged were retrenched or retired during the period from Ist January, 1909, to 31st March, 1910; (4) how many officers were employed in field duties by the Divisions of Fields and Experimental Farms, Livestock, and Meat on the 6th July, 1912; and (5) the amount paid to the officers of the Divisions mentioned in paragraph (4) for the period from Ist April, 1911, to 6th July, 1912, in (a) salaries and (o) travelling-expenses."—(Mr. Anderson.)
