ORDERS OI 1 REFERENCE Extracts from the Journals of the House of Representatives Thursday, the 4th Day March, 3943 Ordered, " That a Select Committee be appointed, consisting by leave, of twelve members, to whom shall stand referred, after the first reading, all Bills affecting or in any way relating to the lands of the Crown, or education or other public reserves; the Committee to have power to recommend such, amendments therein as it thinks proper, and to report generally, when necessary, upon the principles and provisions of the Bills: th# Committee to consist of Mi'. Combs, Mr. Cullen, Mr. Dickie, Mr. Gordon, Mr. Kidd, Mr. Langstone, the Hon. Mr. Lee Martin, Mr. Meachen, the Hon. Sir Alfred Ransom, Mr. Roberts, Mr. Williams, and the Mover."—(Hon. Friday, the stii Day of March, 1943 Ordered, "That all petitions not finally dealt with during the session of 1941-42 be again referred to the same' Committees as they were referred to during the said session."—(Right Hon. Mr. Eraser.) Memoranda for the Chairma/n of the Lands Committee. The Bill intituled the Christchurch Domains Amendment Act stands referred to the Lands Committee for report. (4th June, 1943.) The Bill intituled the Lower Clutlia River Improvement Amendment Act stands referred to the Lands Committee for report. (18th Tune, 1943.) The Bill intituled the Reserves and other Lands Disposal Act, having been read a first time in the House of Representatives on the 27th July, 1943, stands referred to the Lands Committee for report. REPORTS Christchurch Domains Amendment Bill I have the honour to report that the Lands Committee has carefully considered the Christchurch Domains Amendment Bill, and recommends that, so far as it affects public reserves, the Bill be allowed to proceed without amendment. 9th June, 1943. No. 45/1942.—Petition of li. Johnstone, of Auckland Praying for a refund of money advanced to two soldier settlers. I have the honour to report that the Lands Committee has carefully considered this petition and has no recommendation to make. 29th June, 1943,

No. 31. —Petition of J. P. McArthur and Others, of Waitetoko Township, Taupo District Praying for cancellation of special licenses to erect boat-sheds on the Waitetoko Township Subdivision's Lake Reserve. I have the honour to report that the Lands Committee has carefully considered this petition and recommends that it be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 29th June, 1943.

Loweb Clutha River Improvement Amendment Bill I have the honour to report that the Lands Committee has carefully considered the Lower Clutha River Improvement Amendment Bill and recommends, in so far as it affects the rights and prerogatives of the Crown, that the Bill be allowed to proceed without amendment. 23rd July, 1943.

Reserves and other Lands Disposal Bill I have the honour to report that the Lands Committee has carefully considered the Reserves and other Lands Disposal Bill, and recommends that the Bill he allowed to proceed without amendment. 4th August, 1943. C. Morgan Williams, Chairman.
