Access to full text

By default, pages and reports on this website are displayed as GIF images. They were scanned as images as part of the digitisation process. The reports are also available as full text. This text can be accessed from Reports by following the link to "View computer-generated text".

The text is automatically generated using Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software. It is not manually reviewed or corrected. OCR enables searching of large quantities of full text data, but it is not 100% accurate. The level of accuracy depends on the print quality of the original volume and its condition at the time of scanning. Volumes with poor quality paper, small print, mixed fonts, multiple column layouts or damaged pages may have poor OCR accuracy.

Use of colour to identify search keywords

On search results pages, and in reports, a highlighted yellow background colour is used to visually identify keyword matches. The software used to run this website does not provide any way for this information to be conveyed without colour. If you have any questions about this service please contact us.
